Fans of Rick and Morty are no longer “getting schwifty” on Sunday nights.

The hit show, on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, has been a success since it started. Following the life of Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith, the duo go on countless adventures.

Most times, Morty’s sister, Summer Smith, tags along. Their parents are Jerry and Beth Smith.

An underlying theme of the show is Beth trying to repair the relationship she never had with Rick, who is too busy doing science works and inventions. Meanwhile, Jerry is just trying to stay out of his father-in-law’s way.

The show just wrapped up it’s third season… or did it?

There was plenty of mystery at the end. Reoccurring character Mr. Poopy Butthole hinted that an episode might drop sometime in the winter saying, “I might have a big white beard.”

Also, creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon promised fans 14 episodes in Season 3. However, only 10 episodes aired.

As always, Season 3 left with a major cliffhanger. Beth thinks that Rick cloned her, and decided to get back together with Jerry, whom she divorced at the beginning of the season.

Rick is outraged that Summer and Morty joined them, but they all move back into the house together. The season ends with Beth making a joke about Rick not telling the truth to her, and they all laugh – except Rick.

Fans certainly got a taste of Beth and Rick’s relationship in the later episodes of the season. However, Rick and Morty didn’t shy away from tough topics like divorce and how it effects teenagers.

The ratings for Season 3 broke records.

According to Nielsen, the season finale was the most-watched program for viewers between the ages of 18-24.

“Rick and Morty is truly what a modern day hit looks like across multiple screens and multiple touch points,” said Christina Miller, President Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang. “Dan and Justin have created a world, not just a show, and fans are completely engaged.”

Their Twitter following is impressive too. The official Rick and Morty Twitter page has 1.09 million followers. Their Facebook page has 2,927,007 million followers and their Instagram page boosts 1.7 million followers.

Season 4 does not have a release date, currently.
