If you’re looking for another bookish destination – or just another place to try a new drink or dessert – The Plot Twist Co in Connellsville Pennsylvania is your next favorite.

The Plot Twist is not a coffee shop; although they do serve cold brew, the shop is advertised as a “dessert and sips” shop.

Their menu includes mini pancakes, sandwiches, Twisted Sodas, specialty lemonades, lotus, Red Bull and Alani energy drinks, and seasonal favorites that switch up every month or so.

The shop is perfect for readers because in addition to the specialty book-side treats, the shop sells a variety of books, ranging from children’s picture books through adult fiction and nonfiction. They even housed a shelf dedicated specifically to local authors – a charming, small-town touch bigger booksellers don’t often offer. 

As I explored, I sipped on a Raspberry Cream Dr. Pepper from their Twisted Soda board. The drink was prepared with raspberry and vanilla, and my favorite part was the mini book they placed on the top of the cup. This was a personal touch I haven’t seen elsewhere, and it’s something that you can collect as you come back again and again. 

The decor in the shop is right on theme: bookish treasures everywhere! Gold photo frames housed quotes from novels, sketches of book stacks, and the shop even housed a photo backdrop for an insta-worthy picture with your drink.

Although the shop is small, limited seating is available, so if you find a good book during your visit, you can snag a seat and get a head start on your new read. 

The Plot Twist Co was a breath of fresh air.
