Women’s basketball team traveled to IUP on Wednesday, Jan. 28, losing in a big way by 31 points, giving IUP a 97-66 win. The Lady Vulcans then hosted the Mountain Cats of University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown at the PSAC 75th anniversary game. Coach Strom was presented with an award for her achievements in the PSAC alongside a few others from the California programs over the years. The Lady Vulcans wouldn’t let the celebration be spoiled, bouncing back from Wednesday’s loss and winning 82-58.

The men’s team followed the women but changed the script, winning at 84-77. UPJ men’s team came to town and met with the same fate as their women counterparts dropping to the Vulcans 79-68. During the men’s halftime, a water line break caused the 4th game against Penn-State Fayette to be moved to Hamer Hall.
Penn-State Fayette had to cancel their trip and the game was ultimately canceled, with no make-up date announced. Both teams are traveling to Gannon on Saturday, Feb. 7 and to Seton Hill next Wednesday, Feb. 11. Next home game will be Saturday, Feb. 14, against Clarion.
