Belle Vernon coffee shop Sunrise Perks is serving delicious coffee and a cozy atmosphere, perfect for that end-of-semester study session, pre-graduation hang out, or solo date with the perfect read.

Upon arrival, customers are greeted with a themed drink board, updated with seasonal themes. What’s on the menu? Lattes, cold brew, refreshers, Lotus, and bubble tea, not to mention a delicious array of baked goods.

I enjoyed an iced Spring Twix Latte from their spring drink board, a delicious treat composed of cookie butter dark mocha, caramel sweet cream and topped with Twix pieces. 

As far as readability goes (or study-ability, or hangout-ability), Sunrise Perks offered plenty of seating – couches and chairs with plenty of table space for textbooks or board games. 

For little ones that tag along, the shop has a little collection of toys to keep little hands busy – so adults can gossip or study their hearts out in the cozy space. 

I appreciated the layout of the shop; unlike other coffee shops, Sunrise Perks didn’t feel overwhelming. 

Despite the ample seating, you could enjoy your coffee without feeling like you were encroaching on other customers’ conversations. 

There was room for laughter, conversation, and space to spend some time there without feeling awkward or bothersome. The layout encouraged customers to sit down and stay a while. 

Currently, Sunrise Perks is celebrating the NFL draft in Pittsburgh with a themed drink board. Customers can now enjoy a Steel City Lotus, Steel Curtain Crunch Latte, or On the Clock Mocha. 

Their menu made it difficult to decide – I wanted to try them all.

An under twenty-minute commute from campus, Sunrise Perks is a great option to try out a new drink, spend some quality time studying, or opening up that new or old favorite book.
