Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams faced off against Gannon last Saturday. The men’s team faced a tough blowout loss 4-0, while the women’s team put yet another loss in their column losing 2-1 as well. The Lady Vulcans are still trying to find their first win of the season with only five games left in the season, having a 0-10-2 record with a 0-0 tie and a 1-1 tie. Men’s team will be hosting Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday at 6pm. Women’s will be traveling to Edinboro for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday.
The volleyball avoided the weekend sadness traveling to Gannon on Friday for a 3-0 set loss, then went to Edinboro for “you can copy, but don’t make it obvious” type of game losing 31 sets. Currently holding a 15-6 record the team is more than happy with how far they have come compared to last year under the command of their second-year head coach Audrey Emerich. Up next on the schedule is a double-tap of Seton Hill, at Seton Hill and home Friday at 6.
The highlight of the weekend was Vulcan’s football game on Saturday. Phaeton Hill was the field general for the team and did he prove his worth. 28 for 43 racking up 364 yards creating two touchdowns and allowing only one interception. Rushed twelve times for a total of 67 yards. Vulcans gave the student body a light at the end of the tunnel winning though it may have caused the viewers of this game anxiety and some may have developed heart conditions they never knew they had. Vulcans take a buzzer beater, clock struck midnight, four zeros on the time clock 31-28 lead. Next game will be the 25th when the team heads up to IUP to defend the Coal Bucket and become three-pete Coal Bowl champions. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
