The 5,000-seat stadium was located on George Roadman Park, now known as “The College Farm.”
It was named after former Vulcan football player James Adamson, a former starting quarterback before he suffered a career-ending injury in 1928. He became a very well-known sports enthusiast and was well-known in the Mon Valley area for his contributions to the community.
After graduating from Cal, he taught students for eleven years, then joined the Pittsburgh Steel Company until retiring in 1969. Not only did he contribute to sports, but he was also very active in the area. He was the president of the California State College Council of Trustees and a trustee of Charleroi-Monessen Hospital.
Our beloved stadium was dedicated to James Adamson on Sept. 18, 1971. As part of the renovation project for the stadium, a training room was created for upcoming students majoring in sports medicine at the time. Our athletes developed their skills and maintained their health.
