A Look at the Vulcans Athletic Teams

Swimming  

The Vulcan’s swimming team won a combined eight events and (seven individuals) at their opening season meet at Fairmont State last Friday, Oct. 21. They also continued their opening season at Davis and Elkins with a combined five event victories and (three individuals) last Saturday, Oct 22. The Vulcans return this Friday, Oct. 28, against East Stroudsburg and Kutztown starting at 5 p.m.

Football

The Vulcan’s football team lost at home against Slippery Rock this past Saturday, Oct. 22, with a score of 42-24 Slippery Rock. California allowed just 42 rushing yards on 29 attempts. The Vulcans play again this Saturday, Oct 29, at Mercyhurst starting at noon. 

Volleyball 

The Vulcan’s volleyball team had a win at home last Friday, Oct. 21, against Clarion with a score of 3-0 California. They also lost at home last Saturday, Oct. 22, against IUP with a score of 3-0 IUP. The Vulcans return this Friday, Oct. 28, as they head to Edinboro to play a game starting at 6 p.m. 

Soccer  

The Vulcan Women’s soccer team lost at home against Gannon this past Saturday, Oct. 22, with a score of 3-1 Gannon. The team also brought home a win against Pitt-Johnstown this past Wednesday, Oct.26, with a score of 1-0 California. The Vulcans close out the season Saturday, Oct 29, at Edinboro starting at 6 p.m.  

The Vulcan Men’s Soccer team lost a home against Gannon this past Saturday, Oct. 22, with a score of 2-0 Gannon. The team also brought home a win against Pitt-Johnstown this past Wednesday, Oct 26, with a score of 3-0 California. The Vulcans close out the season as they host Seton Hill Saturday, Oct 29, starting at 1 p.m. 

Cross-Country 

The Vulcan women’s cross-country team finished second at Slippery Rock this past Saturday, Oct. 22. The Vulcans will idle for two weeks before competing at the PSAC Championships on Nov. 5 in Mansfield, Pennsylvania.
