Cal U Knocked Out By Seton Hill

Jonathan Hershey, Staff Writer

The men’s soccer season came to a close with a 0-4 loss to Seton Hill on November 1st. The quarterfinal playoff game was the second time they faced off with the Griffins, with their first game taking place on September 7th and ending in a 2-0 win for the Vulcans.

Despite the loss, the Vulcans walk away this season on a positive note. Most of the team will be coming back with only 4 seniors graduating. The team has a tremendous amount of experience under their belts with the rest of the team being either freshman or sophomores, and one junior.

The team suffered a red card early on in the game, allowing the Griffins door for opportunity to arise. At the point in the game when the red card occurred Seton Hill was up 0-1, but the loss of key senior, Elliot Taylor, on the field was prevalent. Any team suffering from a red card is drastically at a disadvantage and the Griffins exploited that.

Seton Hill travels to Erie, Pa to take on no. 1 seeded Mercyhurst for the semifinal match on Friday, November 4th. The other quarterfinal match results are 2-0 Millersville over Gannon. Millersville takes on West Chester for the other semifinal match on Friday, November 4th. Mercyhurst and West Chester had byes for the first round of playoffs because of being the 1st and 2nd seeds. The winner of those two matches face off on Sunday, November 6th.
