This week’s Primetime game features the Green Bay Packers hosting the San Francisco 49ers.  Another week of Aaron Rodgers leading a pack of lesser mortals into battle.  Aaron Rodgers is the best thrower of a football the NFL has seen.  His talent alone propels the Packers into the playoffs year after year.  However, this year is not looking good for Rodgers and the ratPack(ers).  For starters, Rodger’s knee is not okay.  As minuscule or severe the injury may be, it still limits Rodgers to a certain degree. Second, coach Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers have the most passive aggressive relationship in the world.  Those two men have the same relationship as a husband and wife who are only staying together for the kids.  Lastly, the defense is not playing any sort of supporting role this season.  Swiss cheese cuzzo.

Although, as previously mentioned, Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback to ever play the position.  The beginning of this season has been no different, despite Aaron Rodgers playing on one and a half legs.  Through the first five weeks of the football season, Rodger has thrown for over 1500 yards and ten touchdowns, only one interception, and is completing over 60 per cent of his passes.  Very impressive numbers for the gunslinger.  Additionally, Davante Adams has been Rodgers go to receiver this year.  As one would expect, Adams numbers are solid across the board and has scored four touchdowns.  I expect the Packer’s season to turn for the better in the following weeks. Throughout the years Rodgers and the Packers, regardless of how the season starts, usually finish the season with a record around 10-6.  Some things in the world remain true.  The sun sets in the west. The sky is blue. Aaron Rodgers drops dimes and wins football games.

Unlike Green Bay, San Francisco’s quarterback situation has been in question since the tragic injury to Jimmy Garoppolo.  Loosing Jimmy G hurts the 49ers chances of being a playoff contender in a big way.  Since the loss of Mr. Garoppolo, the offensive production has fallen upon the shoulder of two men, Matt Breida and George Kittle.  Breida is a top rusher as week six and Kittle is outperforming most tight ends in the NFL.  Additionally, the defense has had a lack of production allowing roughly 30 points per game.  I do not have much to say about the 49ers and for that I apologize.  They just do not move the needle for the me.  I am a human with many flaws.  49ers writer’s block being just one of them.

As I write this article, the spread is +/- 10 with Green Bay as the heavy favorite.  Rightfully so in my opinion.  Anytime Rodgers is on the field the offense has the potential to light it up.  Also, I cannot think of a single defenseman on the 49ers that will shut down Davante Adams or Jimmy Graham.  Also, 49ers’ back-up quarterback CJ Beathard lacks the experience to perform under the lights at Lambeau field.  Heading into Lambeau is no easy task for any qb.  Nonetheless a sub-average CJ Beathard.  Poor kid.  With all this in mind, taking the Packers to cover the spread is an easy take for me this week.  Packers at home, lock it in.

Also, take the over.  Right now, the over/under is sitting at 46.5 points.  What does this tell us?  Simple, Vegas does not know what is going to happen.  Any over/under that sits in the mid-forties is a virtual coin toss.  I predict the Packers score an abundance of points this game.  The only question is will the 49ers score enough points to help pad that scorecard.  Do not be soft, take the over in this game.  Taking the over makes for more exciting football.  Who wants to cheer for no points on the board? Not me, that is for sure.
